Beatles Ukulele Fun

Over the past couple of weeks I've been having a blast with my ukulele. I went to a couple John Lennon related events for his birthday and attended a ukulele meetup in Oak Park where they do a lot of Beatles songs. One of the events was called Working Class ukulele and was a one man show of a guy named Steve performing a solo act with his ukulele. I also attended a get together at the Old Town School where everyone sang John Lennon songs and brought their guitar, banjo or ukes. I'm just a beginner but it is such a fun instrument to play. I just made a new Beatles Ukulele webpage over on Squidoo. I love my ukulele!

Today (Oct 1) is Beatle Day

The Fest for Beatles Fans (or Beatlefest for those of us who remember the Palmer House days) has announced that Thursday, October 1, 2009 is Beatles Day. Wear something Beatles today and at noon play or sing "Come Together" to celebrate Beatles Day. It'll be fab.

BTW - next Friday would have been John Lennon's 69th birthday. If you are in Chicago, come on out to the Old Town School of Folk Music's Armitage location for the six string social with Mark Vee. Four and eight string players are also welcome so I may just show up with my trusty ukulele. Check their website under workshops for more info.

Peace & Love,

Kat

Gigi from Wonderwall was teaching me this today at the Here Comes the Sun event. Awesome little song for the ukulele.
